About Us

Dr. Arthur Hines School is an elementary school within the Annapolis Valley Regional Centre for Education located in Summerville, Nova Scotia. Summerville is located in Hants County on the picturesque Hants Shore approximately 30 minutes from Windsor and 55 minutes from the capital city of Halifax.

Dr. Arthur Hines School has a faculty of 22 teachers and support staff, and is home to 123 students. We are a Pre-Primary to Grade 5 elementary. We offer students a healthy lunch program as well as a breakfast program.

We operate and maintain a beautiful garden in the northwest portion of our property.  Each year students and teachers select the vegetables, fruits, flowers and herbs that will be grown. Students, with support of staff, volunteers and members of Hants Shore Health Clinic, plant the seeds.
